Lipoplasty Face and Neck Facial Liposuction

Good candidates for this type of cosmetic surgery are patients whose face and neck area contains pockets of localized fatty tissue, (eg. under the chin, in jowls or cheeks). This adipose tissue may have accumulated due to excessive calorie-intake or genetic predisposition. Patients with little subcutaneous fat, or slack facial muscles, or folds of loose skin are not good candidates for facial liposuction. Instead, excisional surgery such as neck lift (platysmaplasty), face lift, eyebrow lift (blepharoplasty), or brow lift, is a better cosmetic surgery option.

Face Lift and Lipoplasty

Liposuction may also be performed in conjunction with a face lift, to remove small pockets of fat in the nose, around the eyelid, in the cheeks or under the chin.

Chemical Peel, Laser Resurfacing and Lipoplasty

Patients with pockets of subcutaneous facial or neck fat and unusually wrinkled skin may also obtain good cosmetic results from liposculpture combined with either a laser resurfacing or a chemical peel.

Best Type of Facial Liposuction

Face and neck liposculpture is probably best accomplished using tumescent liposuction. This method has several advantages, notably the benefit of microcannulas, smaller suction instruments that offer more precise control and smaller incisions. Other benefits include: (1) Smaller scars, due to the use of smaller incisions (adits); (2) Less risk of infection; (3) Faster recovery time. (4) Less risk of post-operative complications.

Lipoplasty and Wrinkles

Liposuction cannot remove facial wrinkles. Wrinkle removal, along with acne scars and other facial blemishes, is best treated with other cosmetic facial resurfacing techniques, such as chemical peel, CO2 laser resurfacing, dermabrasion, or a combination of these techniques.

Chemical Peel

Chemical peel treatment involves the application of a chemical solution to the face in order to remove unsightly pigmentation and wrinkles. Different depths or levels of facial skin can be penetrated by these chemical peels, depending on the type and strength of chemicals used.

CO2 Laser Treatment Method

The CO2 laser method is used to resurface facial skin, remove wrinkles, and tighten baggy skin around the eyes. The laser can be controlled with great precision as it enhances the facial skin and the cosmetic benefits of CO2 laser treatment can be significant.

Dermabrasion

The cosmetic surgery procedure known as dermabrasion utilizes a diamond-coated disc to rub off layers of facial skin. Performed under local anesthesia, dermabrasion is very good for certain types of deep wrinkles, although it requires extremely skilful use.

Laparoscopic or open bariatric surgery, such as gastric banding or bypass is not an easy solution to morbid obesity and weight loss. It is a serious surgical procedure, involving health risks. To produce lasting weight loss it requires a long-term patient commitment to eating a healthy diet and following a regular program of physical exercise. Life-long use of nutritional supplements may also be necessary. So, before deciding, discuss your options fully with your doctor. © 2003-2008 Bariatric-Surgery.Info - Terms - Contact - Information - Resources - Add URL
