How to Find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

If you wish to have plastic surgery to correct problems such as skin droop (ptosis), loose skin, excess fat residues, weakened muscles and improved body contouring, then finding a qualified plastic surgeon is an important and not-to-be underestimated task.

Finding a Plastic Surgeon

Here are a couple of tips about locating a suitable cosmetic surgeon.

Ask Your Family Doctor or Nurse

They may have successfully referred patients for plastic or cosmetic surgery procedures, or may know of suitable surgical candidates.

Always Look for Board-Certified Surgeons

Choose a qualified plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, or by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). This is NOT the same as being simply "board-certified" - it is the certifying board that is important!

Contact Details for ASPS to Find a Surgeon

Finding a UK Plastic/Cosmetic Surgeon

When choosing a properly qualified British cosmetic or plastic surgeon, choose one of the surgeons who is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. BAAPS members are on the Specialist Register of Plastic Surgeons maintained by the General Medical Council. You can always check whether a surgeon is on the Specialist Register by telephoning the General Medical Council Registry line 020 7915 3638

Laparoscopic or open bariatric surgery, such as gastric banding or bypass is not an easy solution to morbid obesity and weight loss. It is a serious surgical procedure, involving health risks. To produce lasting weight loss it requires a long-term patient commitment to eating a healthy diet and following a regular program of physical exercise. Life-long use of nutritional supplements may also be necessary. So, before deciding, discuss your options fully with your doctor. © 2003-2012 Bariatric-Surgery.Info - Terms - Contact - Information - Resources - Add URL
